In April 2021, FEMA extended an invitation to the public to provide comments and recommendations on how the agency is addressing the increasingly frequent changes in climate, natural disasters, and their impact on the most vulnerable populations. At the Puerto Rico Public and Applied Social Sciences Workshop (PR PASS Workshop), we have been supporting various research efforts and reflections on how to pave the way for a more just and participatory recovery. Therefore, in July, we sought the collaboration of researchers to provide a list of public policy change recommendations to FEMA. Thanks to the input from Dr. Antonio Fernós, Dr. Alison Chopel, and Dr. Laura Gorbea, the PR PASS Workshop presented to FEMA a summary of the most important recommendations discussed to date. Here we include a copy of the letter.
